What do you offer?

The Team Supervisor of the Housing Residence Desk is part of the Housing Services Team that provides programs and services for individuals with affordable/social housing needs including monthly tenants, supportive housing for women and youth, and a Family Shelter program. The Team Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Housing Residence Desk and Security.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a personal commitment to and understanding of the Y’s mission, vision, and values.

Some of the tasks of this position include:


  • Coordinates Pest Control and liaise with Orkin
  • Prepares and serves N4 notices to residents under the RTA and attends LTB hearings RTA as required
  • Overseas management of the parking facilities including liaison with Indigo & monthly reconciliation
  • Overseas management of Maestro property software
  • Monthly Reconciliation of Billing Process including Housing Subsidies
  • Provides vacation coverage /duties of Director Housing Services
  • Provide leadership to staff in order to meet the strategic goals of Housing Services
  • Prepare staff schedules and payroll submissions as required
  • Assist with the organization and coordination of special events
  • Develop the system(s) to collect and record detailed client statistics and prepares reports as required
  • Participate in the preparation of funding proposals and reports as required
  • Shares in the provision of after hours on call support within Y Housing Services
  • Ensure resident confidentiality
  • Ensures accurate documentation of events/incidents and records in files, logs or on appropriate forms and communicates information to Housing team members and superiors as required

Facility Care

  • Maintain the workplace to ensure a safe and clean working environment
  • Works with the Cleaning and Maintenance departments to coordinate the maintenance of rooms and facilities to ensure acceptable standards
  • Represents Housing Services on the Health & Safety Committee


  • Demonstrate commitment to Y values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility within the work environment, when interacting with others, and within the community
  • Attend staff meetings and participate as a member of the broader Y (committees, activities, events)
  • Assist with Association philanthropy initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • As per the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons Policy, the staff of the YMCA-YWCA will take allegations of abuse seriously.
  • All staff members are familiar with their duty to report and the procedure for reporting suspected abuse or neglect of a child.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:


  • Minimum High School Diploma, post-secondary preferred


  • Fluency in both Official Languages (French and English) preferred
  • Proficiency in other languages an asset

Experience, Abilities & Skills

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in the front office, customer service or cash management.
  • Knowledge & sensitivity in dealing with individuals with homelessness, addictions, &/or mental health challenges
  • Excellent knowledge of community resources
  • Have a high degree of initiative & adaptability
  • Ability to work with clients with diverse backgrounds & needs
  • First Aid & CPR training
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite & strong level of computer skills
  • Book keeping & record management an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and high level of computer skills
  • Some flexibility in hours of work to meet program needs

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • Criminal Reference Check for the Vulnerable Sector, not more than 6 months old is required 
  • As a condition of employment, in accordance with the COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement Policy for Staff and Volunteers, you are required to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a valid exemption.
  • Annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons, and submit the certificate of completion.
