What you offer?

The Outreach Worker as part of the team will provide support in promoting the programs to the newcomers in Canada as well as approved immigrants outside of Canada, support in producing the series of podcasts about immigration, help with managing social media marketing, writing content for the blogs, quarterly newsletters and the Build on websites.  This position is also responsible to provide support to other Employment Consultants as need be, providing support with creating content for workshop videos on various topics related to settlement and employment in Ontario. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate a personal commitment to and understanding of the Y’s mission, vision, values.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Marketing pre-arrival services and programs to clients and partners, developing partnerships locally and across Canada, providing current labour market info, client support, and facilitating/developing workshops/live webinars
  • Ensure quality of the Y experience for program participants
  • Prepare all statistical and required reports and appropriate file documentation
  • Implement procedures for the operation of programs within the guidelines and contractual obligations
  • Working with staff and manager to resolve any issues relating to the program
  • Identify ways of making improvements to the program for more effective service delivery
  • Provide follow up support to program participants who participated in pre-arrival services as need be
  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and statistical information as need be
  • As per the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons Policy, staff of the YMCA-YWCA will take allegations of abuse seriously

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field

Language

  • Fluent in English, oral and written essential
  • French language is a strong asset

Experience, Abilities & Skills

  • Experience in administration and workshop/webinar facilitation
  • Ability to establish partnerships with local and pan-Canadian partners
  • Intermediate computer skills; use of databases, MS suite
  • Ability to work with clients with diverse backgrounds and skill levels; particularly newcomers and immigrants
  • Strong facilitation skills with proven experience in creating PowerPoint presentations and training materials
  • Strong knowledge of online platforms such as GoToWebinar/Meeting or Zoom to host and facilitate live webinars
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task in the high demand environment
  • High degree of independence and initiative within a team environment
  • Responsibility to coordinate tasks and work as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of interpersonal oral and written communication skills
  • Superior problem solving and creative skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • Criminal Reference Check for the Vulnerable Sector, not more than 6 months old is required 
  • As a condition of employment, in accordance with the COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement Policy for Staff and Volunteers, you are required to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a valid exemption.
  • Annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons, and submit the certificate of completion.
