What you offer?

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Intake, assessment, and case management with clients seeking employment in the skilled trades, engineering, and construction sectors through various communication platforms (voice, video, and text)
  • Development of online training resources such as videos and written materials
  • Research specific occupations and industries to ease the transition for clients into their field or related fields
  • Researching points of service in each Ontario community as client prepares to settle in Canada
  • Providing employment consultation to clients and maintaining and developing career action plans
  • Assisting clients with job search strategies and making connections to local employers as appropriate
  • Making connections and referrals to settlement and employment service providers in the client’s community of settlement
  • Assisting with outreach, marketing, and client recruitment activities
  • Ensuring quality of the Y experience for program participants
  • Preparing all statistical and required reports and appropriate file documentation
  • Implementation of procedures for operation of programs within the guidelines and contractual obligations
  • Delivering online webinars and in-person workshops as requested
  • Ensuring that the data is entered properly and in a timely fashion in the Build ON internal
  • Responsible for referring the clients to mentorship programs
  • Enhancing Build On Website and contribute to digital marketing and outreach
  • Access database and in the case management system (iCARE)
  • Leading special projects, such as newsletters, blogs, podcasts, and/or other

 

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in a related educational field

Language

  • English and French, oral and written
  • Other language skills are a strong asset

Experience

  • Experience in a settlement, employment counseling, and related fields
  • Knowledge of the Skilled Trades, engineering, and construction sectors in Ontario and immigration policy/procedures
  • Experience with diverse individuals, specifically immigrants, and employers in an employment context
  • Knowledge of immigration legislation and policy to understand the nature of the program and the clients’ personal needs

Skills

  • High level of interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and ability to use online communication platforms
  • Superior problem-solving and creative skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office using Word and Excel

Abilities

  • Ability to work with clients with diverse backgrounds and skill levels
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
  • Balance several duties with conflicting deadlines and on short notice
  • Maintains high standards in program delivery and service to the community and clients

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada
  • Criminal Reference Check for the Vulnerable Sector, not more than 6 months old is required 
  • Annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons, and submit the certificate of completion.
