Type: Seasonal contract preferred start date May 2, 2022 with hourly rate of $ 15.00

What you offer?

The Program Staff will function as a team member in a group of 6-10 in the adventure, waterfront, media, leadership, or out tripping portfolio.

This position requires a commitment to the Y mission and core values of responsibility, honesty, caring, and respect, which form the foundation of all Y programs and services

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Responsible for business operations at the camp office. This role will assist in operations of the office as needed and will provide administrative support to staff and volunteer
  • Will manage confrontational situations and manage phone calls
  • Assist with Association philanthropy initiatives
  • Make follow-up phone calls to participants
  • Assist with organization of information
  • Perform administrative duties include filing, data entry, photocopying, etc.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and set up appointments
  • Reports directly to Camping Coordinator

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Language

  • Ability to work in English
  • Bilingualism an asset

 Experience, Skills, and Abilities

  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR “C” certification
  • Experience working in a day camp or overnight camp setting is considered as an asset
  • Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution skills and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with children, members, staff, and volunteers
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
  • Experience in customer relations
  • Experience managing confrontational situations and managing phone calls
  • Must be able to learn and manage YMCA financial software and proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Obtain and maintain all required training and certifications required for the position

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • Criminal Reference Check for the Vulnerable Sector, not more than 6 months old is required 
  • As a condition of employment, in accordance with the COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement Policy for Staff and Volunteers, you are required to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a valid exemption.
  • Annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons, and submit the certificate of completion.
