Thank you to everyone that was able to make it to our member meetings this week. We have been moved by the sense of community our members, volunteers, and staff have expressed. It means a lot to us.

Carlingwood YMCA-YWCA to Close in September 2012
As you may be aware, the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA has been searching for sustainable solutions to the financial challenges facing the Carlingwood Y for a long time.
Despite a large investment into the facility in 2009 to stimulate revenues, the Carlingwood Y continues to struggle. Ultimately, we were unable to find a sustainable solution that would allow us to keep ownership of the property.
In spring 2010, we announced our plan to sell the property at a member town hall meeting and on September 22, 2010, our Board of Directors announced the sale of the Carlingwood Y.
We appreciate this is sad news for everyone and not a decision anyone wanted.
We will continue to operate (business as usual) under a lease agreement with the new owner until September 2012. We are also in the final stages of establishing an advisory committee — made up of members, staff and board members — to assist us with a study to explore viable options for future Y services in the community.
