Y Community Mediation Program

The goal of the Y Community Mediation Program is to increase awareness through public education and offer conflict resolution services to the greater Ottawa area. The program addresses the needs of people living in the community who cannot get help with their problems through legal aid or elsewhere and who want to maintain a civil relationship with the other party.

The Y Community Mediation Program is funded by the Law Foundation of Ontario & sponsored by Pro Bono Law Ontario.

We offer:
  • Community awareness sessions
  • Referral to other community services
  • Presentations to community organizations and front line workers
  • Educational workshops for parents, teachers and other professionals working in community organizations
  • Mediations for parties
  • Dialogue facilitation for non-profit/community groups
How It Works
  • Call us at 613.788.5001
  • Give us a brief description of the problem and the contact information of all parties
  • We will assess your case for mediation. If we can’t help, a referral will be made to another agency
  • If we accept your case, the other party will be invited to participate in mediation
  • A mediation meeting will be arranged at a time and location convenient to all parties (because mediation is voluntary, it can only happen if everyone agrees to take part)
  • The mediator will facilitate communication and help the parties agree on a solution
