Ways to Give

When you give to the YMCA-YWCA's annual giving program you help us build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.  Your support ensures that everyone can participate in Y programs regardless of their financial situation.

How you can give:
  • General Donation
  • Y Strong Kids Campaign
  • Planned Giving and Endowment
  • In Honour or Memoriam
  • Gift In-Kind
General Donation
Help us make a positive difference today when you make a donation that supports the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA.

Y Strong Kids Campaign
The YMCA-YWCA Strong Kids Campaign is an annual fundraising campaign focused on raising much needed financial support for deserving children, youth and families in our Ottawa community who are unable to afford the full cost of participation in a Y program or activity. For more information or to make a donation, please visit www.ymcastrongkids.ca.

Planned Giving and Endowment
Planned giving and endowments are an ideal way to give a gift and leave a legacy that will continue to enhance the lives of people in our community for years to come. You may choose to:

  • Leave the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA in your will or living trust
  • Make a gift for one of our current endowment funds
  • Donate stocks or securities
  • Name the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA as beneficiary of your insurance policy or registered retirement fund
In Honour or Memoriam
A wonderful way to recognize someone special is to make a donation in honour of a special occasion, such as a birthday, holiday, anniversary, or wedding. Simply complete the online donation form to make a contribution in someone’s name. Please note that a card will be sent on your behalf that acknowledges your gift, but it will not specify the gift amount. A receipt will be issued to you for income tax purposes.

A donation in memory of a family member, friend or colleague is a thoughtful tribute to the accomplishments of one’s life.  Simply complete the online donation form to make a gift in memoriam.  Please note that a card will be sent on your behalf, but it will not specify the gift amount. A receipt will be issued to you for income tax purposes.

Gifts In-Kind
In most cases, we are happy to accept donations of good and services. Some donations may be eligible for a tax receipt.

For more information on any of the above giving opportunities, please contact the Financial Development Department at our Corporate Offices.

*The National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA does not conduct integrated door-to-door campaigns.  However, you may receive from time to time a knock at your door from a neighbour who is working to strengthen our local community by fundraising for the Y through a run, swim-a-thon or some other similar activity.  Ensure the individual has an official Y pledge collection form that includes the NCR Y’s charitable number and contact information.  If you have any questions regarding the initiative or authenticity of the donation request, call the telephone number for follow up.  Secure donations are always accepted through this website and www.ymcastrongkids.ca .  For more information on donating to registered charities, visit CCRA.
