Support the Y

Since 1867, the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA has worked to improve the lives of children, youth, adults and families.

We provide safe places created by caring volunteers and staff who lead programs that develop character and teach life skills. Whether it’s a place to go after school, a place to learn leadership skills, or a place for the family to play and connect, it all happens at the Y.

That’s why your support of the YMCA-YWCA is so crucial.

Ottawa’s strong sense of community is a source of pride for all of us. But we’re not immune to the challenges facing all Canadians today.

  • Almost 71,000 local families, and more than 1 in 5 children, are living below the poverty line
  • Close to 40,000 people access food banks, 39% of which are kids
  • Unemployment is high among visible minorities and many find themselves in the ranks of the working poor
  • Only 61.5% of Ottawa residents strongly feel a part of the community, with newcomers and youth reporting the greatest sense of isolation
  • Youth violence is on the rise and more and more youth are joining gangs
  • 50% of Canadians are out of shape and 55% admit that they never exercise
  • Today’s kids are the least fit generation of Canadian kids

Help us make a positive difference today.

When you donate to the Y's annual giving programs, you invest in the futures of children, youth, adults and families in our community. Your donation helps provide access to Y programs and services to those in need.

Your gift changes lives. We see it everyday.
