Update on Y Pools
You may have heard that last week the Province of Ontario announced that we have moved into phase 2 for re-opening businesses that were closed due to COVID-19. As part of the phase 2 reopening plan, it was announced that pools were able to reopen.
Though we are thrilled that pools have been given the green light to reopen, we have not yet received official guidelines on required protocols to do so. It is also unclear whether we will be able to open our pools at this time, since our pools are part of a fitness and recreational facility. These types of facilities are not included in the phase 2 reopening plan.
While we wait for more information, we are busy working to prepare the pool for reopening, a lengthy procedure that also includes providing two weeks’ notice to schedule an inspection by Ottawa Public Health.
During this time, we will continue to work with Provincial and local health authorities and confirm that all new health and safety protocols are put in place. We will also ensure our staff are all trained and have the tools they need to keep everyone safe. Once we have been given final permissions, we will only reopen when we feel certain that we can keep our staff, volunteers, members, and clients healthy and safe. At this time, we can’t say for sure when our pools or facilities will reopen. We know it’s been a long wait, thank you for sticking with us!
As soon as we have more news, we will share it with you.
Yours in health
