Position Overview:
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Membership Sales Specialist drives revenue by working to retain current members and acquire new members. The Membership Sales Specialist must maintain knowledge of all products, services, memberships, and trial or promotional deals. This position informs and encourages participation in all Y programs and services and strives to provide more value to members by offering them options that will enhance their Y experience.

The Membership Sales Specialist follows up on sales leads, contacting prospective members to explain the benefits of Y membership, programs and services. This position is focused on acquiring new members by booking appointments for facility tours with prospective clients and walk-in guests who are interested in learning more about what the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA has to offer. The Membership Sales Specialist establishes rapport with diverse clients and evaluates needs, wants, goals and budget to ultimately sell memberships that are well suited to the Member. The Membership Sales Specialist is tasked with increasing membership retention rates by contacting existing members to encourage renewals. This position is client focused and responds to client feedback and complaints. Once a sale or renewal is closed the Membership Sales Specialist collaborates with the Membership Sales and Service team to ensure the full lifecycle of the membership registration or renewal process is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

The Membership Sales Specialist is the main point contact for the Y Active Assist program. This position is responsible for ensuring proper and complete documentation is submitted with each application. This position reviews applications and sets membership rates on a case by case basis. This position adheres to daily operational procedures, YMCA’s policies, and regulations regarding client memberships and Programming and is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of the NCR are conveyed to existing members, potential members with every interaction.

- 2-3 years of experience in a sales role
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- Motivated by achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Experience with commission based sales an asset
- Knowledge of CLASS or other database/client management systems is needed
- Knowledge and frequent use of MS Office Suite products is required
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certification
- Current Police Record check per Association Policy
- Bilingualism considered an asset
- Experience managing the transmission of sensitive and confidential information
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
