At the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region, we pay particular attention to our children’s nutrition because we believe  so strongly in nourishing growing minds and helping our children adopt healthy eating habits for life. Nutritious snacks are served once or twice a day in all programs depending on whether the program runs half a day or a full day.


Snacks and meals follow the guidelines of Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating.

  • We avoid sugar, salt and deep-fried foods
  • We serve fresh fruits and vegetables with a commitment to limit processed, canned  or pre-packaged foods.
  • Food alternatives are provided for children with allergies, cultural preferences or dietary restrictions*

* Please note that we are a peanut and nut free Child Care Centre. We ask that Parents not bring in items containing any nuts.
