Re: Camp Davern's 2017 Season
After careful consideration, we have made the decision to keep Camp Davern closed for the upcoming 2017 summer camp season.
This decision was not made lightly as we acknowledge the unique and significant role Camp Davern has played in the lives of so many young girls and women. Camp Davern is a treasured and important part of our Y and we are so proud of our rich history of preparing young women to succeed, building our future female leaders and helping girls make a positive difference in their communities.
Despite the alignment of Camp Davern with our Y mission, this camp is not a financially sustainable model as it exists today. As a charity, we need to be responsible financial stewards, and only after extensive consideration did we conclude that this is a necessary course of action for our association. Closing for the 2017 summer camp seasons allows us to continue analyzing the future sustainability of Camp Davern.
The Camp Davern experience shapes girls who will respect differences, think critically and creatively, live with compassion and become agents of change. We are committed to continuing this important work through our other Y Camp programs and would be honored to serve your family at our Overnight Camp or Outdoor Day Camp at Camp Otonabee (Dunrobin, ON), or at one of our Y Neighborhood Day Camps.
For more than 60 years, the Y has been a leader in camp programming, offering parents peace of mind, knowing that their children are learning new skills and developing lifelong friendships. Like at Camp Davern, all of our Y camps are led by qualified, caring and dedicated employees with an unparalleled commitment to the safety and security of children in our care.
On behalf of everyone here at the Y, please know how much we value your continued support and dedication to the Y in our community.
