Leadership Programs at Camp Davern
Leaders in Training If you are 15 years of age by December 31, apply to be an LIT!
In this month-long program you can develop many of the hands-on skills of camp and outdoor leadership – canoeing, kayaking, canoe tripping, drama, climbing, outdoor living skills and ecology. You will be fully involved in the camp programs by helping out with theme days and assisting with personal choice activities. You will live with other young women in a cabin with your counselor and will have the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to achieve your Bronze Medallion or Bronze Cross certification.
Leaders If you are 16 years of age by December 31, apply to be in Leaders!
In this month-long program, you can develop many of the necessary skills to take on a leadership role at Camp Davern as a future counselor, in your community, in your school or sports team. Under the guidance of your counselor and other staff, you will develop the fine art of leadership through games, experiential education, practice and placements.
As a Leader you will learn how to facilitate programs, to effectively lead campers and your peers, and to work and collaborate in a team. Additionally, you will learn about your own leadership style, how to work through group conflict, and acquire new problem solving skills while working with your own group and through your placement in camper cabins. To help you be the best that you can be, you will set goals, have a mid-session check-in and a final feedback session with your counselor so we can best meet your needs and goals.
Please note that there is an interview process prior to acceptance in the LIT and Leaders Programs.
