The YMCA developed the first nationally-recognized aquatics programs in 1931 and has continued to train aquatic leaders ever since.
Our aquatic leadership and certification programs provide you with the necessary training to become a lifeguard and swim instructor at any YMCA-YWCA in Canada or in the City of Ottawa.

LSS Swim Instructor must be 16 years AND Assistant Water Safety Instructor AND Bronze Cross or NLS |
LSS Lifesaving Instructor must be 16 years AND Bronze Cross or NLS |
*To work for the YMCA-YWCA as a swim instructor, employees must have LSS Swim Instructors, or YMCA Instructor, or LSS Lifesaving Instructor. To work for the City of Ottawa, employees must have LSS Swim Instructors AND LSS Lifesaving Instructors.
