YActive Assist: Fee Assistance Program

About the Program

As a proud charitable organization, the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region ensures everyone has the opportunity to take part in health, fitness and recreational activities. Our Y Active Assist program is designed to adjust our membership fees to assist those who are unable to afford the full cost of participation. This ensures that no one is turned away because of financial difficulties.

Application Process
  1. Download an application form or pick up a printed version at your local Y.
  2. Fill in the application form and attach the required documents (as outlined on the form).
  3. Bring your completed application and all required documents to your local Y for review by a Membership Service Representative.
  4. Provide a void cheque to activate your Y membership and to schedule your pre-authorized monthly payments.
Commonly Asked Questions

How does the Y determine how much I pay?

Once we receive your completed application form and required documents, we calculate your membership fee based on a review of your household income and the size of your household.

How long does the application process take?

We will do our best to review your application on the spot. Occasionally we may require additional time to properly assess your application. In such cases we will contact you by phone no later than two business days after receiving your application.

What type of membership will I receive?

Once your application is approved, you will receive a Core Membership. This includes; unlimited access to six of our seven facilities, drop-in programs and core group fitness classes, and three fitness consultations and equipment orientations in the first year. What is the duration of my membership?

Fee assistance is provided on an annual basis. To renew your membership, we ask that you visit us one month prior to your expiry date with a copy of your Notice of Income Tax Assessment(s) to re-affirm your eligibility.

How do I pay for my membership?

The Y requires that you schedule pre-authorized monthly payments to be withdrawn from your bank account or credit card.
