The Language Assessment and Referral Centre is a centralized screening, assessment and referral centre for newcomers in Ottawa. LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) provides free English/French language training for eligible individuals.
Eligibility Requirements
- 18 years of age and older
- Ontario resident
- Landed immigrant (permanent resident status) or
- Convention refugee (Notice of Decision Letter) or
- Minister’s Permit (Case type 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91 or 92 only) or
- Approval in Principal Letter or
- Employment Authorization (Case type 27 only) or
- Student Authorization (Case type 37 only) or
- Visitor’s Record (case type 17 only)
