Shenkman Residence

Please note: we are in the midst of renovations which are scheduled to be completed in summer 2011. Limited rental space will be available during this time.

The Shenkman Residence of the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA is centrally located, in close proximity to both Ottawa and Carleton Universities and within walking distance of Parliament Hill, museums, art galleries, the Byward Market, shops, restaurants, and the world famous Rideau Canal. In winter, the canal is the world’s largest skating rink and each spring the city hosts the Tulip Festival.

The Shenkman Residence rents rooms to individuals over 18 years of age and has the capacity to host short-term guests and groups of up to 30 people based on triple occupancy. All rooms are modestly furnished with a bed(s), chair, desk and closet.

The following accommodations are available to short-term daily and weekly guests:

  • Singles with shared washroom facilities
  • Singles with private bath
  • Doubles with shared washroom

Each room has a colour TV with cable service. The minimum stay is one night to a maximum of six weeks. All accommodations are to be paid in advance. There is no charge for local calls, and all long distance calling must be done with a phone calling card. All telephones are equipped with voicemail.

Please note that the Shenkman Residence is styled as a university residence, with individual rooms rather than apartment like accommodations. Short-term residency is offered to singles only.
