The YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region provides emergency shelter for women, couples and youth with a particular priority on families.
Persons requiring emergency housing must first be assessed by City of Ottawa Housing branch to determine eligibility and authorize placement at the Y. Clients staying at the Y have access to support, crisis intervention, referral services and a variety of in house programs.
All emergency guests must be able to care for themselves. Guests should be able to:
- Relate well to others in a setting where facilities are shared
- Carry out activities of daily living independently, including managing all personal medications
- Access the support office if in a crisis
For eligibility and placement please contact a City of Ottawa crisis worker at 613.560.6000 during office hours or call 211 after hours or on weekends.
For more information, please contact the Y's Housing Support Services at 613.788.5063.
