Housing Services

For over 140 years, the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA has provided housing services to the community. Both the YMCA and YWCA were founded in Ottawa in response to a need for shelter for men and women.

The Y currently offers an emergency shelter, youth transitional housing and a monthly supportive housing program.

Located at the Taggart Family Y, our housing and accommodation services are often used by students, newcomers to Canada, individuals in transition due to separation and divorce, those living in unsafe or unstable housing, and individuals coping with issues related to physical/mental health, or substance abuse.

Working with our community partners, the Y continues to provide affordable, safe housing in an environment that promotes mutual respect, support and tolerance.
