For over 145 years, the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region has provided housing services to the community. Both the YMCA and YWCA were founded in Ottawa in response to a need for shelter for men and women.
The Y currently offers family focused emergency shelter, youth transitional housing, gender specific monthly supportive housing and a supportive housing program for women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Located at the Taggart Family Y, our housing services are often used by students, newcomers to Canada, individuals in transition due to separation and divorce, those living in unsafe or unstable housing, and individuals coping with issues related to physical/mental health, or substance abuse.
Working with our community partners, the Y continues to provide affordable, safe housing in an environment that promotes mutual respect, support and tolerance.
