Aquatic Programs

At the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA, our aquatics programs teach participants how to be safe in and around water and give them the sense of accomplishment that comes from learning something new.

Our aquatics programs include lessons for infants through to adults, aquafitness classes, as well as aquatics leadership and certification programs.

The YMCA developed the first nationally recognized aquatics program in 1931 and has continued to train aquatics leaders ever since.

By fostering relationship building, the Y’s aquatics programs create a positive atmosphere where members can both strive for and achieve their personal goals. Our four core values – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility – form the foundation of all YMCA-YWCA programs, and are integral to all aspects of our aquatics program.
